Marie Leguizamo was named Managing Director of Banijay Mexico & U.S. Hispanic in September 2021. A multi-Emmy nominated producer, Leguizamo oversees the recently launched studio based in both Mexico City and Los Angeles. Banijay Mexico & U.S. Hispanic, a division of Banijay, the world’s largest independent TV production and distribution company, is focused on developing and producing original content in both English and Spanish for broadcast, cable and streamers in the Mexican and U.S. Hispanic markets.
Since its launch in 2019, Banijay Mexico & U.S. Hispanic has created a production hub in Mexico City, where it’s currently producing the hit comedy series Last One Laughing for Amazon Prime Video in Mexico, Argentina and Colombia. The studio is also developing an unscripted docu-series with global superstar Becky G that will follow emerging all-female Latin group ANGEL22 and a comedy series with Mexican actor/writer Ricardo O’Farrill (Last One Laughing: Mexico).
Leguizamo has produced unscripted television for nearly two decades, and her vision and concepts have led to record-breaking ratings and successes. She has been recognized twice by the International Emmy association with nominations for her work on La Voz Kids, has garnered a Daytime Emmy nomination for Last One Laughing: Mexico and recently produced “Jalas o te Rajas”, a new comedy series for Prime Video. Leguizamo has worked closely with Banijay’s sister studio in Mexico, Endemol Shine Boomdog, for the last decade and produced numerous top unscripted series under its banner. She has also served as the showrunner/executive producer on such Spanish-language hit series as La Voz Kids for Telemundo, as well as Pequeños Gigantes USA and Mira Quien Baila on Univision. Leguizamo has also produced a variety of network performance/competition-centric shows including two seasons of Carnival Corporations’ La Gran Sorpresa, Nuestra Belleza Latina, Viva El Sueño, Premios Juventud, El Juego de Oro and Billboard All Access.
