Maggie Salas-Amaro is an accomplished media executive and award-winning producer. She is a recognized multi-platform strategist in the broadcast, cable, and streaming industries. Prior to joining Canela Media, she worked for some of the world’s most successful brands including Viacom, The Walt Disney Company, NBC Universal, FOX, Univision and Hola! TV, where she led content strategy for a joint venture between DirecTV Latin America, Hola publishing and A3 Media. During her tenure, the network reached the Top 10 ranking as one of DirecTV’s most popular variety channels.
As Director of Canela Kids, Maggie Salas-Amaro oversees Canela Media’s portfolio of children’s and family content including development and production for originals and co-productions featuring educational and family-friendly content that celebrates Hispanic culture. She was instrumental in the rollout of Canela Kids mobile app and seven FAST channels in the U.S. and Latin America, with content from Mattel, Moonbug, Wildbrain , Nelvana and local productions. In her role she serves as executive producer of originals, co-productions and partnerships including the award-winning animated series, ‘SuperEllas’ and developed along with StoryBook App a number of vignettes for back to school and holidays.
Maggie is a frequent speaker on topics including the transformation of television, content and emerging media; serves as Adjunct Faculty at The University of Phoenix and Adjunct Lecturer for Journalism and Media at Florida International University; and has been recognized by Cynopsis Media as a Top Women Media and the Worldwide Women’s Audiovisual Association (WAWA), as an honorary member for her contributions in in media. Since 2021 she produced and co-hosts a podcast for Florida International University, Tech Conversations.
