Maggie Salas-Amaro

Maggie Salas-Amaro is an award-winning producer and media executive. During her career, she has worked for some of the world’s most successful media brands including Viacom, The Walt Disney Company, NBC Universal, FOX, Hola! TV and Univision.

In her current role she oversees Canela Kids at Canela Media an AVOD offering for kids and families to enjoy for Free and 100% in Spanish. Canela Kids features world renowned franchises like Cocomelon, Cody Time, Meekah, Blippi, Barble Dreamtopia, Max Steel , Hot Wheels and local productions from Latin America with programs such as Renata and Gulllermina and Candelario, among other titles.

Throughout her career, Maggie has been involved in significant channel launches. She played an important role in launching several channels at Nickelodeon, serving as the programming manager for Latin America and Brazil. Later she joined The Walt Disney Company to facilitate the transition of the Fox Family channels to Jetix, now known as Disney XD. In 2013, she was part of the founding team that established Hola TV, the first global channel in Latin America and the US Hispanic markets under the brand of the famous magazine.

In 2023, the Canela Media Original animated series SuperEllas earned a Gracie and Silver Telly award telling stories of Hispanic trailblazers like Frida Kahlo, Selena Quintanilla and Isabel Allende among others. Her outstanding contributions have also been recognized by the Emmy Suncoast Chapter and the Martin Fierro Awards.

Maggie Salas-Amaro is an honorary member of Worldwide Audiovisual Women’s Association (WAWA) and of the Alliance of Women in Media. She is also a South Florida native and an alumnus of the Florida International University School of Journalism + Media. She also earned a Master of Management degree from the University of Phoenix School of Business.
